Over the years, both citrus and vegetables have been grown and packaged under the Manatee label. Gladiolus production began in 1936 and the Manatee name quickly became synonymous with quality flowers. Vegetable production was discontinued in 1946 as cut flower demand increased. Currently, glads rank as our largest crop followed by an assortment of other cut flowers. The gladiolus harvest begins in November in Bradenton, Florida, moves south to the fields in Naples for the deep winter months, then returns to Bradenton for the strongest production period. This ensures an uninterrupted supply from Thanksgiving to Memorial Day. Manatee Floral is located on Florida's gulf coast, 40 miles south of Tampa. |
